The Hybrid Racing 10th Gen Civic shifter has gone through our most stringent design and quality tests. Torsion springs can offer inconsistent resistance which is why we chose to place a single internal spring that can stay constant during every gear change and for super-smooth centering action. Others on the market offer cable reinforcement brackets and “tie-downs” but that’s a solution to a problem that shouldn’t exist. Our new 4-link wishbone rocker design allows extremely short and precise movements while keeping the shifter cables at their optimum angle. When we set out to design our short shifter, we focused on all of the areas where the factory unit disappoints. Praised for being one of the best stock shifters in the automotive industry, improving on Honda’s design can sometimes be a challenging task. Throw can be adjusted to the user's preference and reduced substantially if desired.To aid in installation, this shifter is equipped with unique base bushings that feature an O-ring fastening design that allows them to stay affixed to the shifter. The spherical joint in the rocker has been heavily upgraded over the OEM design to allow for wear-compensation, to avoid the play that typically develops in the OEM shifter. Centring is quick, decisive and consistent, compliments of a thick, over-wound centring spring and re-engineered spring perches. A large-diameter, aluminium pivot ball in a wear-compensating, spherical race provides smooth shifting with minimal friction and great long-term resistance to play. The shifter's frame is built from a careful combination of aluminium and stainless steel, to improve the frame's stiffness while being mindful of weight. To permit the most personalized shift, the knob is both height and position adjustable, with laser markings indicating safe adjustment ranges. Gear throw and gate spacing are independently adjustable and allow for mild to rather extreme reductions compared to stock. Using these adjustments, it's quite easy to tune the H-pattern spacing of your shifter to your exact liking. The RS Springs sit inside the pressure rings which helps engage the rear lock and the number of springs can be added or subtracted for personal customization.
Because of the coil spring design, it provides an overall gentle and stable operation. The virtue of a low initial torque setting is that it enables a smooth turn even while the LSD mechanism is not activated. Therefore, the initial torque is set lower than the MZ model which enables a smoother and quicker initial clutch plates engagement from a non-operational to a fully functioning state, even despite a low initial torque rating. In the RS Model, the activation pressure is applied in the same direction as the initial torque with the utilization of a coil spring.
